Eat and grow games: the big eats the small
Updated 2026-10-28
Eat and grow games run on one rule: eat anyone smaller, grow, and stay away from anyone bigger. You play it against real people in Agar.io and other io games, and on your own in Feeding Frenzy, Hungry Shark Evolution and Tasty Planet. Below are seven games and which of them have real opponents.
The classic version is the big fish eating the small one: a little fish eats anything smaller and grows until it can take on the big ones. In io games the fish become cells and bubbles, and the rivals are other players on a shared map. If you are looking for the blob eating game itself, see “What is the blob eating game where you eat and grow?”.
Which games let the big eat the small?
| game | what you play as | opponents | what is different |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agar.io | a cell | real players | you eat dots and smaller cells, and you can split your cell. Browser and phones |
| Feeding Frenzy | a fish | single-player | you eat smaller fish and grow until you can eat bigger ones. PopCap Games, 2004 |
| Hungry Shark Evolution | a shark | single-player | you grow from a small reef shark to a great white and unlock new sharks. Phones, 2012; it also plays offline |
| Fish Eat Fish.io | a fish | not stated in the store listing | you start as a tiny fish and grow by eating sea life; over 100 species. Phones |
| Bugs.io | a bug | not stated in the listing | you collect fruit, knock out smaller bugs and evolve into the biggest insect. In the browser on Poki |
| Tasty Planet | a ball of grey goo | single-player | you eat anything smaller than yourself, level by level. Dingo Games, 2006 |
| Hole.io | a hole in the ground | computer-controlled in Classic and Battle (per Wikipedia) | you swallow a city in a two-minute round, then smaller holes |
| Crybble Wars | a bubble | real players on a shared map, plus bots that carry no money | in a match with a paid entry the money sits in your bubble; if you are eaten, it drops as a chest. There is a free match too |
How do eat and grow games work?
- You start small and eat whatever is smaller than you: dots, fish, objects.
- The more you eat, the bigger you get and the more you can eat yourself.
- Anyone bigger can eat you. In a single-player game that ends the level; in an io game you start again from zero.
- In io games something limits growth: in Hole.io a round lasts two minutes, and in Crybble Wars mass melts on its own.
Which of them do you play against real people?
In Agar.io and Crybble Wars your rivals are other players on a shared map. Feeding Frenzy, Hungry Shark Evolution and Tasty Planet are single-player. In Hole.io, per Wikipedia, the other holes in Classic and Battle are computer-controlled. The listings for Fish Eat Fish.io and Bugs.io do not say whether you play against people or the computer.
Where does Crybble Wars fit?
Crybble Wars is an io game for the web and Telegram: your bubble grows from food, and the big eat the small. To eat another bubble you must be at least 10% heavier and cover more than half of it. Bots are run by the game and carry no money.
The difference is money. The entry is free or 1, 30 or 100 CBW; 1 CBW is $0.01. A paid entry sits in your bubble: if you are eaten, it drops onto the map as a chest; if you leave through the house button, it goes to your balance. The point-by-point comparison with Agar.io is on “Crybble Wars and other io games”.
What is the game where a fish eats fish and grows?
The classic is Feeding Frenzy from 2004. On phones there is Hungry Shark Evolution, where you are a shark, and Fish Eat Fish.io.
Are there eat and grow games online against people?
