What does guild mean in games?
Updated 2026-10-11
In games, a guild means an organized group of players who regularly play together. Another word for it is clan: MMO and role-playing games tend to say “guild”, other games say “clan”. Online games with clans and guilds include World of Warcraft, Clash of Clans and EVE Online, where such a group is called a corporation.
What does a guild give you in a game?
- A shared chat and the group’s name on every member. In World of Warcraft a guild gives access to its chat channel and the guild name.
- Shared property. In World of Warcraft it is the guild bank, in Crybble Wars the treasury.
- Help from your own. In Clash of Clans clan members donate troops to each other.
- Fights together: clan wars and battles for territory.
Which online games have clans and guilds?
- World of Warcraft: guilds with a chat channel, a guild bank and a guild tabard.
- Clash of Clans: a clan of up to 50 players. In a Clan War each clan gets one Preparation Day and one War Day.
- EVE Online: players form corporations, and corporations band together into alliances that can declare war on each other.
- Albion Online: a guild of up to 300 players; guilds fight over territories and castles.
- Guild Wars 2: a free-to-play MMORPG where guilds take on guild missions.
How do guilds work in Crybble Wars?
Crybble Wars is an io game for the web and Telegram. A guild there is a team of up to 32 players with a shared treasury in CBW; 1 CBW is $0.01.
| what | how it works |
|---|---|
| Size | up to 32 players. A new guild starts with two seats, counting the founder’s; more seats open as the guild’s level grows |
| Price | creating a guild and joining one are free. The first exit is free, the second costs 1 CBW, and each one after that costs twice as much |
| Treasury | grows from the 10% commission on members’ profit in paid matches, half of what members spend on the Guardian’s level, manual top-ups and raid loot |
| Raid | a one-on-one fight against another guild’s Guardian. The owner and each attacker get one raid a day: 90 seconds to grow, 120 to fight, 15 to collect five chests |
| Raid result | a win moves part of their treasury into yours; a loss moves part of yours into theirs. Nothing is taken from your personal balance |
| Daily loss cap | a guild loses no more than 20% of its treasury per day |
| Leagues | wood, bronze, silver and gold, by guild level. The maximum level is 32 |
| Season | 10 days. At the end the treasury is split between members by contribution and reset to zero |
The rules are on the “Guilds”, “Creating a guild”, “The Guardian and raids” and “Leagues and the treasury” pages.
18+ only. Crybble Wars does not promise earnings, and a paid entry can be lost in full. Lost raids shrink the treasury, and what you put into the treasury cannot be taken back.
